Today, the internet has become not only part of youth life but where their life depends on. Internet practice has uncontrollably been increased among peoples especially youth in Nigeria. It is hard to see a youngster having no smart- phone and at least without connecting to the internet once or twice a day in Nigeria (Elogie et al, 2015). The main aim of this study is to survey the Internet prevalence and Addiction among Northern Nigerian’s, particularly college youth from the age 15-25 years old and to examine the reason behind their Internet practices, i.e, it is for knowledge seeking, socializing between one another or toward other activities different? (Intrinsic or Extrinsic). Therefore, a sample of 50 questionnaires was shared randomly online to the youth from the Northwestern part of Nigeria's State specifically (Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna and Katsina State). However, the majority of the respondent was a student with a high percentage of respondents, while the others were youth who were teachers teaching in schools or those who are doing business. The gathered data was analyzed using SPSS 24 and the result shows high gender differences concerning internet usage among youth. The result discovered that socializing is the most common activity youth utilized internet usage for, such as using Facebook, WhatsApp and others. Only a few of the participants respond they utilized to seek knowledge. The result also shows males are more addicted to the internet compared to females. Majority of the participant reported that it will be difficult for them to quit using the Internet, this shows that the Internet has become not only part of the youth life but where their lives live on. The research concluded that countrywide effort should be considered, raising awareness among youth, parents, and educators about the risk of internet addiction. This study may help government, agencies, organization and any other groups and individuals it may concern or researcher who may wish to further their research on the issues of internet prevalence and addiction especially if it is on Nigeria.
